You will build on your existing skills and learn advanced yogic consultation techniques by integrating the foundational principles of therapeutic yoga, yogic lifestyle, and yoga philosophy. Your yoga teaching skills will be refined in pranayama, asanas, meditation, and relaxation. This yoga course places a strong emphasis on research skills to deliver professional services within your practice, particularly when working with clients with special needs and chronic conditions. It also focuses aspects on yoga business practices including researching and developing business plans, and establishing relationships to collaborate with industry professionals as needed.

Accreditation
By completing our 11150NAT Diploma of Yoga Teaching you will qualify to register as a Level 2 accredited teacher with Yoga Australia – 500 hours of training.
Course Delivery and Assessment
This course is timetabled for 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment across 4 terms of 10 weeks, and 12 weeks of holidays. Each week, you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week for self-directed learning should be set aside for homework. A plan for self-directed learning will be provided for a 10-week period that outlines your learning activities in preparation for assessment requirements.
Training: Training takes place on campus. In Brisbane, training occurs on campus as well as Stretch Yoga located at Level 2/129 Margaret Street in Brisbane City.
Assessments: Assessments include short answer questions, case studies, presentations, role plays and practical demonstrations in a simulated environment, and projects.

Entry Recommendations
You must meet both the academic and English language requirements.
Academic Requirements
- Completion of a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching
- Be at least 18 years of age.
English Language Requirements
You must meet one of the following criteria:
- IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent), with no individual band score below 5.5; or
- ALG in-house English proficiency test that is equivalent to IELTS 6.0; or
- Completion of the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) online test as per ALG’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements Factsheet
- A Certificate IV level qualification (or higher) completed within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) in Australia within 2 years before starting this course; or
- Completion of the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in Australia and in the English language within 2 years before starting this course.
Please note: If you are applying for more than one course at ALG, you will only need to complete the LLN online test once. However, students returning to studies at ALG after a significant period of time may be asked to complete the LLN online test.

- Dress Code: During practical classes, it is necessary to wear suitable yoga attire for trainers and assessors to evaluate and adjust your posture and alignment effectively.
- Bring your own device: Please bring your own laptop or tablet device to theory classes as ALG does not provide these items. Refer to the BYOD Policy in the ALG Student Handbook for specific information.

Practical Training
Our Melbourne and Sydney campuses are equipped with on-site yoga studios for hands-on training. Our 11150NAT Diploma in Yoga Teaching offers a balanced curriculum, combining in-depth theory with practical experience. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of different teaching practices, the benefits of nutrition and diet, and developing business plans, while building on the yoga practices they learnt in 11149NAT Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching.
