Application Process

The LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy) test assesses an individual’s performance in the 5 core skills, and these are: learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy. The test ensures that you have the basic skills required to complete your studies and succeed in the workplace. On the other hand, if English is not your first language, you need to show evidence that you have the required level of English proficiency before starting your intended course, as all classes at ALG are conducted in English.

Both LLN and English proficiency are equally important to ensure that you are capable in succeeding in your studies. The LLN test is required to be taken only once throughout your whole journey with ALG, and if you have not studied with us for more than 2 years, we may ask you to complete the LLN test again.

Once you have received your Letter of Offer from us you will need to complete the actions on Page 17, so that we can issue you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and enrol you into your selected courses.

Step 1: Click on “Review Document” to view your Letter of Offer.

Step 2: Click on “Continue” to proceed.

Step 3: Scroll down to start reviewing your Letter of Offer. Please download a copy of the Letter of Offer so that you can click on the links embedded in your Letter of Offer with additional information.

Step 4: Once you are ready to accept your Letter of Offer, please complete the actions required on Page 17.

Step 5: On Page 17, we have listed the common conditions that an applicant must fulfil before they can commence their course with ALG. Please select a suitable response for each category.

If a student does not have evidence of English proficiency that meets ALG course requirements, the student can take ALG’s English Placement test. The test is an online test and free of charge for the first attempt.

Step 1: Indicate on the application form Step 4 that you request to take ALG English placement test.

Step 2: Send a test request email to admissions@alg.edu.au. Once we receive your request, we will send you the online test and test instructions via email.

ALG supports course credit practices, including the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfers.

Credit Transfer (CT)
ALG will recognise credit transfer for students that hold an equal unit of competency part of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Even if the training package title is different from the one where the unit of competency was completed, the student is eligible for a credit transfer.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Students who wish to apply for RPL are strongly advised to speak with ALG admissions to ensure any application contains suitable supporting evidence. This is for information purposes only and is not the formal assessment of the student’s RPL request. In applying for RPL, the student will be assessed against the requirements of the units of competency listed in the relevant qualification. The list of units of competency is available on the ALG website under each specific course page.
