“Equality means more than passing laws. The struggle is really won in the hearts and minds of the community, where it really counts.” – Barbara Gittings
This month, people all around the world wear their colours with pride… it’s Pride Month!!
Each year, the LGBTQ community and allies honor the Stonewall Riots of 1968 and the progress made—and yet to be made—for LGBTQ people everywhere.
Pride Month is considered to be an important holiday, one that details the history of the LGBT community finding acceptance in the world. While it’s more widely accepted today than ever before, history is able to tell long stories of why this was not the case for a very long time. Pride Month is a time for each individual to be proud of who they are and the unique offerings they have to bring to the world. So, read on to learn about the LGBTQ+ community and how just about anyone who wants to can find a variety of ways to enjoy and celebrate Pride Month.
You probably knew that the rainbow flag — created by artist Gilbert Baker in 1978 — is used as a symbol of LGBTQ pride, but did you know that each colour on the flag has its own meaning? In the widely known six-colour flag, red is symbolic of life, orange is symbolic of healing, yellow is sunshine, green is nature, blue represents harmony and purple is spirit. Today, in 2022, there are over 50 different flags to represent the diverse genders and sexualities we have today, and this list is ever expanding. Whether you’re out and proud, questioning, closeted, or an ally, you will always have a place and a voice in this world. So be who you are and speak your truth, wear it with pride!

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH FROM ANDRES
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community I want to wish you all a very happy pride month. This is a month to celebrate diversity, freedom and love. For many years we have been rejected by society, but today we can say that love doesn’t have a label, and love is for everyone!
I want you to feel proud of yourself, shameless, and love the person you want to love. Pride is for everyone, regardless of your race, culture, religion, body etc. You were born this way, baby.
As Lady Gaga said, don’t be a drag, just be a queen 👑
Let’s give love to everyone and make this world a better world.
