HOW TO MAKE YOUR MUM FEEL SPECIAL ON MOTHER'S DAY

All of our students have made the huge decision to move away from home and study in Australia, and many have left their families behind and are unable to see them often. Living so far away from your mother can be difficult and this Mother’s Day we encourage . Here are a few ways to celebrate Mother’s Day with your mum or a special woman in your life.

  • Put Some Effort Into Choosing a Card
  • Make a Donation to a Cause She Cares About
  • Don’t Forget to Call!
  • Order Dinner From Her Favorite Restaurant to Be Delivered to Her
  • Send Her Flowers
  • Use the Netflix Party Feature to Watch a Movie Together
  • Send Her a Homemade Gift
  • Book a Trip or Event For the Future

LET'S SHAKE OFF THIS GLOOMY WEATHER

It’s getting colder and colder, hello Australian Autumn! It seems our sun is becoming shyer and shyer each day, and our rain clouds seem ever so popular now, but did you know that this can really affect your mood throughout the days and weeks leading into Winter? When you don’t get enough sunlight, your body creates less serotonin, which can have a pretty bad impact on your mood. Dark days can mess with our melatonin levels, making it difficult for some people to get to sleep at night but also get out of bed in the morning. If a lack of sunshine is getting you down, a few simple tips could help turn your mood around.Get yourself outside!• Daily walk and exercise can boost your mood, so when the sky is clear go for a nice walk!• Exercise releases endorphins, chemicals that create a positive or euphoric feeling in the body• Make sure to get morning sunlight exposure to keep a regulated internal clockLet the light in!• When it’s gloomy, flood your home or study area with as much light as possible• Maximize any sunlight that filters through on cloudy daysDon’t shut yourself in!• Stay social and active through the gloomy weather.• Stay in contact with your classmates!• Find a workout buddy• Rain cancelling plans? Have a digital movie night over Discord/Skype/Zoom from the comfort of your home without having to risk getting wet!Or if you find these aren’t helping, please feel free to talk to one of your friendly Student Experience team members we’re here to help and will happily be a pair of ears to listen.
