You have all made it through 3 quarters of the year, through Australia’s cold and very stormy winter, and now we’re heading for warmer weather in Spring. Yay!!

General reminder: Please check your emails regularly! ALG sends important email updates throughout the term, and it is crucial to be on top of your emails while studying with us. We do not want you to miss out on any important information even though classes may have finished.

Considering what might be a prerequisite for a role before even finding the right role will put you one step ahead of other candidates.

Training and Assessment
Many of you will be great candidates for Training and Assessment roles once you gain just 5 years of experience in the industry after you graduate. For this, you would need to relevant qualification plus the Certificate.
Right to Work
Consider your working rights (tied to visa type) before applying for roles as this will impact the roles you can apply for and save you time applying for the wrong roles.
Positive Behaviours
Many employers have moved from the traditional skill-based interview to a behavioural approach. More than ever companies are looking for candidates who align with their company culture and values, but above all, have strong behaviours.
Practical Experience
This is why we focus on ensuring you get the most hands–on experience possible however entry-level jobs in the industry will also help, ie getting an admin role in a gym whilst studying.

Sunsuper Riverfire has returned this year to finish off the amazing Brisbane Festival. The fireworks will start at 6.45PM and the best way to enjoy this is from the comfort of your home by tuning to Channel 9! Alternatively, if you prefer to watch on-site, there are a few outdoor spaces available – but please observe the COVID-safe rules, including the audience limit.

As you are all now probably aware at this point, the Western Australian government has opened up vaccination opportunities for people aged 16-39 for Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

PERTH ROYAL SHOW

It’s finally here!! The biggest community event held in Perth, and so perfect that we’re hosting the GrandFinal for AFL this year!

Kickback on this holiday break and enjoy rollercoasters, fair games, and show bags galore while also taking in educational exhibits on show. Australians and travellers alike are welcome to one of our biggest community events of the year, so if you’re still sitting there thinking about it, you should come on down and enjoy the fun!

MELBOURNE COVID UPDATE

 As of 11:59pm on 17th September 2021, there has been a change in the restrictions for Metropolitan Melbourne in line with us hitting our 70% first dose vaccination target. There are now six reasons to leave home, with the newest addition to socialise or exercise with one other person outdoors for up to four hours. Those who are fully vaccinated can meet up outdoors with other fully vaccinated adults in groups of five, across two households, for up to four hours. The 5 kilometre limit for shopping for essential goods and services and exercise has also been increased to 10 kilometres. Two people will now be able to train outdoors with a personal trainer, and skate parks and other outdoor communal exercise equipment will reopen.

Escape Rooms have made it into the digital world and you can now enjoy an adventure with your friends from the safety and comfort of your own home! There is a range of different rooms to choose from too! Some involve interacting with actors via video calls, some are text narratives, and others are video game-like. If you are interested in any of these, grab some friends and join in the fun!

SYDNEY COVID UPDATE

Some COVID-19 restrictions in NSW are easing for fully vaccinated people — here’s what you need to know

As Sydney starts easing its COVID-19 restrictions for people who have been fully vaccinated from the 13th of September. The new updates were created thinking about a balance between public health needs and people’s mental wellbeing. It’s important to know that what you can or cannot do will depend on where you live.

MEET ADOLFO

Adolfo is one of our Diploma of Mental Health students and has come to Australia from Colombia to study.

He was a psychologist in his home country and has decided to bring his experience to Australia and study Mental Health along with Clinical Psychology in the future in hopes to eventually work as a Psychologist here.

Step 1: Visit the Student Portal at alg.edu.au/studentportal using your computer or mobile internet browser (e.g Safari, Chrome)

Step 2: Go to the payments tab and choose the current invoice

Step 3: Select either the Miscellaneous Fees OR Tuition Fee tab to see your due fees

Step 4: Click the $ sign on the right of the invoice to proceed to the payment page
